The second day of Spring ended in Sydney's Northwest on September 2, 2004 with a grass/scrub fire measuring approximately fire acres at Samantha Riley Drive and Old Windsor Road at Kellyville.

Firefighters from New South Wales Fire Brigades and New South Wales Rural Fire Service attended this two-alarm wildfire.

The fire was a case of arson. A person suffering burns is in custody of Castle Hill Police.

Initially, the fire moved quite rapidly in all directions and headed towards homes. However due to fair weather conditions and favorable terrain, no homes were in immediate danger.

It was decided to let the fire burn itself out with firefighters in control of the situation in a short amount of time.

NSW Rural Fire Service crew conducted mopping up operations, while NSW Fire Brigades appliances were released and returned to station.
