Two-Alarm Fire Strikes San Jose Business

March 24, 2009
Smoke quickly gave way to heavy fire conditions that extended approximately 30-feet above the building.

On Saturday, March 21, just before 5 a.m., units of the San Jose Fire Department were dispatched to 345 Northlake Drive for reports of smoke from the roof of a 100' x 300' single-story, multiple-occupancy commercial structure.

The crew of Truck and Engine Company 14 (C-Shift) found eavy smoke issuing from the roof of the structure and active fire in the attic space above a hair salon. Smoke quickly gave way to heavy fire conditions that extended approximately 30-feet above the building.

Under the direction of Battalion Chief Jerry Buzzetta, assisted by Battalion Chiefs Gary Galasso, Alan Anderson, and Juan Diaz, crews were able to hold the fire in check and limit damage to the unit of origin.

There were no injuries reported. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
