Pennsylvania Firefighters Tackle Blaze At Former Gertude Hawk Chocolate Factory

On Friday, August 6, 2004 a fire burned out of control at the former site of the Gertude Hawk Chocolate Factory for hours. Witnesses spotted the blaze up to twenty miles away.

The blaze that started at approximently 7:00 p.m. and quickly consumed two warehouses that were now the home for Vince Mecca's World of Custom Cabinetry Inc. and Bunevitch Pallet Co.
Reports of fire load of at least 20,000 pallets in the pallet company alone it was no wonder the intensity of this fire with left an erie glow over Dunmore, Pennsylvania.
Many volunteer departments responded with equipment and crews to assist the Dunmore Fire Department, which is a single firehouse department.
The blaze was brought under control around 11:00 p.m. with no injuries reported.
