Los Angeles Firefighters Fight Blaze At Drug Store

It took approximately 175 Los Angeles firefighters over two and a half hours to control a late afternoon blaze that ran through a large "Sav-On" drugstore and warehouse in Arleta.

It took approximately 175 Los Angeles firefighters over two and a half hours to control a late afternoon blaze that ran through a large "Sav-On" drugstore and warehouse in Arleta.

Firefighters first on scene reported heavy smoke from the rear of the structure. The fire quickly progressed through the attic and firefighters were ordered out of the building.

Firefighters used numerous master streams including ladder pipes, wagon batteries, portable monitors and handlines the knock down the blaze.

Smoke from the fire could be seen throughout the San Fernando Valley.

One firefighter suffered a knee injury and a second suffered heat exhaustion. Both injuries were considered minor.

Damage estimates are still being tabulated, the cause of the smokey blaze is under investigation.
