Illinois Firefighters Battle Four Alarm Fire

On Saturday, July 31st at @ 11:15 am, the Oak Park Fire Department (ILLINOIS) responded to a fire alarm to the Village of Oak Park Public Works Garage at 131 South Blvd.

On Saturday, July 31st at @ 11:15 am, the Oak Park Fire Department (ILLINOIS) responded to a fire alarm to the Village of Oak Park Public Works Garage at 131 South Blvd. On arrival first due companies found a smoke condition with fire.

The alarm escalated to a 4th alarm. It brought in mutual aid from 12 different fire departments to the suburb just West of Chicago.

The building is estimated to be about 100 years old. It measured 200' X 400', one story commercial with a bow truss roof. It is estimated that at least twenty vehicles could have been in the building at the time of the fire.

The fire spread to a 4 story apartment building with fire on the third and forth floors on the exposure 4 side of the fire building.

Multiple hand lines, aerial devices and master stream devices were used to control this fire within two hours.

No injuries were reported to any firefighters or civilians.
