At 12:07 AM on Tuesday July 27, 2004 the Crawford County Office of Emergency Services received a call reporting a structure fire at Bakers Saw Mill on US Rt. 322 east of Cochranton at the Crawford/Mercer County Line.

According to pre-plans a first alarm structure fire assignment was dispatched consisting of Cochranton Volunteer Fire and Ambulance (Department 4), Engine-10, Engine-9, Heavy Rescue-42, BLS Ambulance, West Mead # 1(Department 28) for a full assist (3 engines) , Utica (Department 27-Venango County) for a tanker and an engine and East Mead (Department 9) to stand by at Cochranton
