Lake Johanna and Roseville units were dispatched for a house fire on Banyan Avenue, in Arden Hills on Jan. 18.
Firefighters battled temperatures hovering around zero when they arrived at a mobile home fire on Jan. 18, according to Lake Johanna Assistant Chief Ralph Adair.
At about 1 p.m., Lake Johanna units were dispatched for a house fire on Banyan Avenue, in Arden Hills. An automatic aid agreement alerted the Roseville Fire Department.
Lake Johanna Engine 4 reported smoke showing and stretched a handline to the front door. Arriving moments later, Roseville Engine 31 established a water supply and initiated primary searches.
The fire began underneath the structure. According to Chief Adair, "The fire snuck up from the bottom and we had smoke inside the house." Firefighters had to remove skirting from around the entire structure to access the fire and knock it down. Intense overhaul was needed to check for fire that ran in the walls of the home.
"The auto aid really did its job," Adair said. "They were dispatched at the same time as us and they were on scene right away and they provided needed manpower."
Firefighters rescued a cat from the home and released it to Allina EMS who tended to the animal.
Twenty five firefighters using three engines and one ladder had the fire under control in 15 minutes.
