Texas Crews Tackle Mobile Home Blaze

On Thursday, Nov. 29, at 4:30 p.m. the Alvarado Fire Department was dispatched on a structure fire just south of the city. Alvarado E-2 and C-1 responded to the call, and were advised that this would be a confirmed working fire.

Additional apparatus and personnel were summoned from Keene, Briar Oaks, and Liberty Chapel Fire Departments. Upon arrival, the crew aboard Alvarado E-2 found a double-wide mobile home approximately 70% involved. The fire had not vented through the roof and flashover of the structure was very possible.

Alvarado personnel stretched a two-and-a-half reduced to an inch and a half CAFS hand line and started an offensive attack. A second hand line was pulled to the back door.

Keene E-2 was the second engine to arrive. By this time, Alvarado personnel had the fire knocked, and were nearing the mop-up stage. Firefighters remained on scene for approximately two hours.

The house was being remodeled from a previous fire at the time of this incident. The homeowner believes the fire started from a heater that was left plugged in.
