Delaware Firefighters Quickly Knock Trailer Fire

Chief arrived to find heavy smoke showing

On Dec. 4, at 7:53 p.m. Kent County, Del. Emergency Operations Center alerted Station 41 (Camden-Wyoming) for a reported trailer fire on Douglas Fir Road.

Numerous 911 calls were received on the alarm, leading dispatchers to automatically place responding units on K-Tac 4, the operations channel.

Camden-Wyoming Fire Chief James Seaman (41-15) arrived on the scene and reported heavy smoke showing. Crews off the first arriving engine company advanced a 1-3/4-inch hand line into the structure. Chief Seaman also requested a tanker company out of Station 55 (Magnolia) shortly after arriving on scene. Firefighter/EMT Mike Masche and Captain Justin Pippin used a "Animal Oxygen Mask" and saved a cat found inside. No injuries were reported. Crews worked on the scene for just over an hour and under winds at 12-15 mph with gusts at 30 mph. No injuries were reported.
