Shortly after 3 p.m. on Nov. 9, firefighters from Rosenhayn Volunteer Fire Company in Deerfield Township, N.J. (Cumberland County) were called to the LoBiondo Brothers Motor Express Trucking Company.
As firefighters were leaving their station, they could see a large column of black smoke in the sky. The first in units found heavy fire showing in the parts room area near the main office section of the huge trucking company.
Due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area, the second and third alarms were sounded, bringing e11 neighboring companies, many with tankers to supply water for the blaze. It took over two hours before the fire was placed under control. Firefighters were able to save the rear section of the building.
The LoBiondo Brothers Trucking Company business is owned by the family of U.S. Congressman Frank LoBiondo. A spokesman for the Congressman reported that he was notified about the fire and he was leaving Washington to return home.
There were no reported injuries and the fire is being investigated by the State Police Arson Squad and the local Fire Marshals.
Firefighters from Rosenhayn, Bridgeton, Cedarville, Carmel, Fairton, Gouldtown, Greenwich, Hopewell-Stow Creek, Norma, Seabrook and Vineland City help fight the blaze.
