Arizona Firefighters Respond to MVA

The Jaws of Life was use to free both men, they were trapped between the seat and the dashboard.

Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department responded to Hwy 95 a half mile East of Ave G this morning for a reported Motor Vehicle Accident involving two vehicles.

When Firefighters arrived on scene they found both vehicles with heavy damage due to the impact. The Jaws of Life was use to free both men, they were trapped between the seat and the dashboard.

The Vehicles involved were a van believed to be a taxi unknown what company the taxi is owned by, the other vehicle a GMC Pickup. The age of the driver in the van a male in his mid 50's and in the GMC a male in his mid 20's.

The Driver of the Van was taken to YRMC by Ground Ambulance and the occupant of the GMC was flown by Care Flight Helicopter to YRMC, both in Critical Condition. Both men with life threatening injuries, DPS is investigating the accident.

Responding agencies, Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department, Somerton Police, Rural Metro Ambulance, MCAS Fire Dept, DPS, Care Flight Helicopter.
