On Monday, Oct. 1 around 10 a.m., two engine companies and two rescue ambulances of the Bullhead City Fire Department responded to a traffic collision under the direction of Battalion Chief Don Evans.
First arriving units reported an overturned truck on top of another vehicle with a person trapped in the truck. Gasoline was leaking from the truck. The driver's legs were trapped in the truck.
The second arriving engine pulled a hose line for protection of emergency crews. Skilled firefighters used High Pressure Life Bags to stabilize the truck and attempt to lift the vehicle off the victim. The Jaws of Life were also utilized.
The truck began to rock and appeared it might slide. At the same time, a crane was driving by. Battalion Chief Evans, knowing the owner asked for his help. Dave Rock of Rock's Crane Service immediately set up and lifted the truck.
The Jaws were then used to open the driver door and free the driver.
The driver was air-lifted from the scene to University Medical Center in Las Vegas in critical condition.
The drivers of the two other vehicles were not injured.
