Just after noon on Sunday Sept. 30, the City of Euclid, 9-1-1 communications center was flooded with calls reporting a head-on injury traffic crash.
At 12:40 p.m. "B" shift firefighters from Euclid Station 3 were responding to 27101 Euclid Ave to render assistance. As calls continued, the shift platoon commander was advised there were several trauma patients.
Capt. Ken Crosby called for additional resources, which led to all on-duty firefighters to be dispatched to the crash scene.
When Crosby assumed command, he found a two car head-on collision with three trauma victims.
The three female patients -- determined to have suffered traumatic injuries -- were pinned.
Rescue personnel were able to open both vehicles quickly, and transports were made by Rescues 1, 2, and 3 to two area Level ll trauma centers.
Euclid Fire Chief Tom Cosgriff said that all the victims were in trauma suites in less than 35 minutes from the time of dispatch.
