Around 7:00 pm this evening, one man became trapped inside of his small black Chevy Blazer when it went off Scenic Highway, near Ruby Falls. The Chevy Blazer was said to have gone air borne and flipped landing on its top, on the side of Lookout Mountain.
Firefighters with the City of Chattanooga Fire Department responded to the scene of the crash and immediately started the difficult task of extricating the trapped driver from the flipped over vehicle that was between rocks on the side off the mountain.
A witness at the scene said the man was swerving back and forth on the curvy roadway. The witness also said that the man was lucky because if he had not seen the vehicle go off the road the man may have not been found for a long time, due to where the Chevy landed.
City of Chattanooga Firefighters were able to free the injured man from his mangled wreckage in short order. Firefighters then transported the man back up the side of the mountain, in a stokes basket, to an awaiting Hamilton County EMS unit. The man was then transported to Erlanger Medical Center in stable condition.
