At 2:54 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct 14, the Cincinnati Fire Communication Center received several telephone calls reporting a building fire.
One caller reported that some people were evacuating the building, but others may be trapped.
First arriving fire units encountered heavy fire conditions showing from the second floor rear, with fire rapidly advancing into the third and fourth floors of a large four story brick building. The incident commander requested a second and third alarm simultaneously due to the large volume of fire showing, and the potential life hazard due to the time of day. This brought forty additional firefighters to the scene.
Once all occupants had been accounted for, the incident commander withdrew fire fighters from the interior of the structure engaged in a defensive fire fighting operation.
There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported. Twenty-one residents were displaced. The Cincinnati Fire Department's Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the incident, and the cause of this fire is currently listed as Undetermined. Damage is estimated at $250,000.00.
A total of seventy firefighters were summoned to this incident.
