Close Call for Rural Illinois Department

On April 23, the Wapella Fire Department was paged to a structure fire of RJ Plumbing and Heating next to the fire station. Upon arrival they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. They immediately started calling for mutual aid.

Once all the mutual aid arrived on scene, they had a total of eight departments to assist them. They were Farmer City, Clinton, Maroa, Heyworth, Downs, Kenney, Waynesville, Weldon.

The Illinois Fire Marshal was called in to investigate the blaze..

RJ Plumbing and Heating was located right next to the Wapella Fire Department. The fire station sustained cracked windows and smoke damage.
