An early-morning fire ripped through an L-shaped ranch in the West Belmar section of Wall Township, New Jersey on April 1.
District 1 was dispatched for a possible structure fire on Old Mill Road at 6:55 a.m. and within minutes police patrols arrived on scene and advised dispatch of a working fire. Upon transmission of the working fire West Belmar chief requested an engine from Spring Lake Heights and South Wall (District 2) for a F.A.S.T. team.
When District 1's first unit arrived they immediately pulled a 1 1/2-inch and a 2 1/2-inch handline. As firefighters waited for water, a supply line was laid by West Belmar's second-due unit. The 1 1/2-inch hoseline was charged immediately to keep the fire in check until the 2 1/2-inch line was put into use.
Once they had water an aggressive push was made through the front door and the fire was knocked down. There were no injuries reported at this fire.
