Pennsylvania Structure Fire Leaves 5 Displaced

Due to the temperatures being in the mid 20s and lack of a water supply, McGayhesville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for manpower and water.

An early morning house fire ripped through a tiny four room house leaving five people homeless on Wednesday morning, Jan. 10. The call was dispatched around 3:15 a.m. as a structure fire with fire showing.

First arriving units from the Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Company found heavy fire showing from the rear of the structure. Two hand lines were used to knock down the blaze in about 30 minutes. Elkton Volunteer Fire Company, along with members of Shenandoah, conducted an interior attack. Fire gutted the two rooms on the rear of the house.

Due to the temperatures being in the mid 20s and lack of a water supply, McGayhesville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched for manpower and water. Units on scene included, Engine 704, Engine 36, Engine 807, Tanker 701, Tanker 805, Squad 705, Serve 34 and Rescue 304.

Fire investigators were called to determine the cause of the blaze. The members of the house were displaced and are staying with relatives. No injuries were reported. Units stayed on the scene until approximately 6:15 a.m.
