Six fire suppression companies and one rescue ambulance under the command of Battalion Chief Mark Stormes, responded to an early morning fire in the Hollywood Hills area above Hollywood, Calif. on June 21st.
First arriving engine, Engine 82, found a two story single family dwelling, with heavy fire and smoke showing from the 2nd floor. Firefighters using 1-1/2" and 1-3/4" handlines, along with vertical ventilation on the roof, made an aggressive attack on the fire which was knocked down in 17 minutes.
Neighbors reported that the residents were out of town. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. Two reptiles, reported to be Iguanas, perished in the fire.
The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical and the loss was estimated at $300,000
