10 Civilians Injured in Camden, NJ House Fire

Engine 10 arrived and reported heavy fire showing 1st floor with victims on the lawn.

CAMDEN CITY,NJ- At 0915 pm, a box was dispatched for a dwelling with people trapped at 3031 Alabama Road. Responding were Engines 10, 8, Squad 7, Ladders 2, 1 , Rescue 1 and Battalion 1.

County Radio advised units they were receiving numerous calls reporting a house on fire with victims trapped on the roof. Engine 10 arrived and reported heavy fire showing 1st floor with victims on the lawn. Engine 10 went in service with a 1.75” handline.

Battalion 1 arrived and reported a 2 story, ordinary construction, with heavy fire 1st floor and multiple victims. Battalion 1 struck the all hands and also requested another Ladder Company.

Ladder 3 and Battalion 2 were added to the box. Ladder 2 arrived and threw ground ladders and assisted in searches. Rescue 1 arrived and performed searches as well. Squad 7 assisted Engine 10 with securing a water supply. A 2nd 1.75” handline was also placed in service.

Battalion 1 reported at the 10 minute mark that the bulk of the fire was knocked down and searches in the dwelling were negative.

The fire was placed under control at 9:38pm. Mutual aid BLS units were brought in to the scene to assist with transporting the victims. A total of 10 occupants were transported to area hospitals. One was reported to be in serious condition and was transported to the trauma unit at Cooper Hospital.

Camden City Fire Marshals, Camden County Fire Marshals and the Major Crimes unit are investigating the fire at this time.
