Around 5:15 PM, on June 9, 2004, the Chelsea, Massachusetts Fire Department recieved a call for a drowning near Commandant's Way.
It was initially thought that the drowning could be in a pool at the condo complex, but it was soon determined that the incident was in the Mystic River. A 12-year-old girl was missing, and more help was immediatley called.
Responding units included the Chelsea Fire and Police Departments, the Boston Fire Department, Police Department, dive team, and Rescue 1, the Everett Fire Department, the United States Coast Guard, Massachusetts State Police, Alliance Security, and Several News Helipcopters aided in the search.
The girl was found about an hour later. Sadly it was too late, and she was pronounced dead at Mass General Hospital.
