On Saturday, October 21 at 3:27 p.m. Salisbury Stations 2, 16 and 1 were alerted for a reported structure fire on Hammond Street. Assistant Chief 1 (Hastings) was the first unit on the scene and reported light smoke visible on the "D" side of the structure. As lines were stretched one crew advanced onto the roof and started venting around the metal flue for the wood stove while another gained access from the interior.
A small amount of fire was visible around the flue and at this point crews had to cut out a section of the wall to allow adequate access to the fire. The fire was quickly knocked down and the scene was declared under control at approximately 4:15 p.m. with the last units clearing at 5:08 p.m.
