3-Alarm Blaze in Sykesville, Maryland

It took fire crews nearly three hours to extinguish the fire. A bulldozer was brought into the scene to raze the remainder of the building.

Nearly 100 firefighters from three Maryland counties (Carroll, Baltimore and Howard) battled a spectacular fire in a vacant Liberty Road business for hours on Saturday evening, October 21 in Sykesville, MD.

The 3-alarm blaze completely engulfed the two-story structure at Maryland Rts 26 & 32, which has served a number of businesses, most recently Midway Feed and Tack. The business was vacant when the fire broke out.

It took fire crews nearly three hours to extinguish the fire. A bulldozer was brought into the scene to raze the remainder of the building. Two firefighters were transported to local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
