On the afternoon of May 17, 2004, Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department firefighters responded to a reported house fire. District Chief 2 was the first arriving unit and reported heavy fire from a two-story residence.
Engine 7 arrived on scene and found the house fully involved. The structure was deemed unsafe for an offensive attack and a defensive attack on the residence was ordered. Firefighters utilized a deck gun and multiple hand lines to extinguish the fire and protect the surrounding exposures. The fire was under control a short time later.
Witnessess reported lightning strikes in the area as a strong storm moved through the area in Northwest Harris County, Texas. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department is one of the largest volunteer fire departments in America operating from eleven fire stations.
