Providence, Rhode Island Firefighters Battle Mid-Morning Cellar Fire
Providence, RI -- On the morning of April 20, 2004, Providence firefighters were dispatched to Pekin Street for a building fire.
On arrival, Engine 12 reported smoke showing from a 2.5-story wood frame structure.
Companies stretched in and reported a fire in the cellar with extension upwards. Heavy smoke was visible from the basement and eaves.
Battalion 3 requested an extra engine and truck over the working fire.
It took approximately 20 minutes to bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
