Ms. Cora Roseborough, who had been missing since Aug. 12, was found late this afternoon in a creekbed in the woods about three-quarters of a mile off Belmeade Dr., which is off Moores Chapel Road. She was responsive to officers and after receiving on-scene care from Charlotte Fire and MEDIC personnel, was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment. It is unclear how long Ms. Roseborough had been stuck in the muddy creekbed. She was found about 200 yards away from where search parties were looking for her yesterday and about a mile away from the Food Lion at I-485 and Moores Chapel Road where she was last seen Tuesday.
Volunteers continuing the search today discovered shoes in the woods that her family confirmed belonged to her. The volunteers called 911 and officers responded to the scene. With neighbors who knew the area, officers searched the woods and they located her blue shirt. A short distance away, they found her.
Efforts to find the 73-year old woman over the last 48 hours included using the GeoNotify system to alert residents in the area to be on the lookout for her. Family members, volunteers, CMPD officers and firefighters searched the area along with CMPD's K9 and Helicopter units. Media outlets continued to show her photo and provide her description.
