Crews from four cities were dispatched

PORT ORANGE, FL. May 26, 2008 - Fire units from Daytona, New Smyrna Beach, Port Orange and South Daytona were dispatched at 10:27 a.m. today for a multi-family occupancy at 3527 Forest Branch Dr. (Townhomes North Complex).

Port Orange Fire-Rescue's Engine 73 was first on scene at 10:35 a.m. Upon arrival, they found flames shooting through the roof of one of the six units within the building. After determining there was no one inside the structure, crews were able to extinguish the fire within ten minutes and contain it to unit A (units B-F had no damage).

Port Orange Fire Marshal, Chief Weir, determined the cause to be an electrical outlet in the master bedroom. Chief Weir puts initial damages estimates between $50,000-60,000. The American Red Cross is assisting the family of three until restorations are complete.
