New York Firefighters Respond to Mill Blaze

At approximately 10 a.m. on April 24 in the city of Johnstown, N.Y., a fire, that appears to have been started from a saw used by a salvage company, destroyed four of the city's old mills.

The damage was not confined to just the mills, but several houses in the neighborhood. The wind blew the burning embers several blocks away. The smaller fires were mostly contained to roofs causing minor damage.

Firefighters from Fulton, Montgomery and Saratoga Counties were called for mutual aid to help battle the blaze. Several minor injuries were reported among the nearly 150 firefighters who responded.
