On the afternoon of April 5, 2004, the Glendale, Colorado Fire Department was dispatched to a reported rollover accident.
The first arriving fire department staff officer discovered a two-car MVA with a male victim trapped in the rolled over vehicle.
Engine-111, a heavy-rescue engine, arrived shortly thereafter with Captain Crain taking command.
The Engine-11 and Quint-111 crews went to work on extricating the victim while Rescue-111 personnel initiated medical treatment. The SUV was crushed down on the A-Post of the drivers-side door making this access point difficult. The Hurst Tool was utilized to quickly remove the passenger side door and the victim was removed. This victim and the driver of the other vehicle were both transported to a local trauma center in stable condition.
Scene time from arrival to transport was only eleven minutes, a tribute to the efficient work of the Glendale Firefighters.
