Pennsylvania Firefighters Battle Vacant House Fire

April 11 - Approx 00:30 hrs, Companies 61, 40, & 55 were dispatched to 1622 Peach St for a building fire.

April 11 - Approx 00:30 hrs, Companies 61, 40, & 55 were dispatched to 1622 Peach St for a building fire. Police went on location advising a vacant house at the end of the street, fully involved. SQ 61 arrived on location under the command of 61-9B, A. Barrowclough. 61-9B ordered exterior attack only and had firefighters begin to set the boom up. Crews pulled a handline to the back of the building to start an attack in the rear. 40-1 arrived and laid into the Squrt. Three more handlines were placed into action at different points around the house as well as a deck gun, 61-2, and a tower.

61 also arrived on location. UC-9, J. Smith, arrived and assumed command. About an hour or so into the call, UC-9 made the decision to put Tower 61 into action. All the handlines were packed up and the tower was brought in. An engine from 55 hit the hydrant on the other side of the creek and laid into the tower. The tower
