At 11:00 on September 24, 2002, the Brentwood, Tennessee Fire Department responded to a report of smoke in the area.
Before arrival, multiple calls were received of a house fire.
All four stations responded. Upon arrival, Engine 1 reported flames through the roof of a 7000 sq. ft. dwelling.
The fire began in a one story wing but then started rapidly extending into the 2nd floor and attic.
Command was established by Chief Kenny Lane. Ladder 1 positioned itself for a defensive attack, but interior crews stretched two handlines, and fought the fire by working into the room of origin and cutting off the extension.
No one was at home at the time of the fire.
The family dog was saved as well as double stacked automobiles in the garage that included a Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, and a Porsche.
Despite a great stop, the loss in still estimated to be in excess of $500,000.
The fire was determined to have started in the laundry room from an undetermined cause.
Two firefighters suffered minor thermal burns.
A third, Engr. Steve Failor was transported by EMS after a collapse of a brick veneer wall while overhauling the fire.
He missed two shift due to his injuries.
