Minn. Firefighters Contain Kitchen Fire, Rescue Dog

One person escaped a mid-afternoon kitchen fire while firefighters rescued a dog the house in St. Paul on Sept. 11. 

Units found heavy smoke coming from the 2 1/2-story dwelling in the 1700 block of Ashland Avenue around 4:30 p.m.

Firefighters from Squad 2 and Engine 5 used two hoselines to bring the fire under control.

During seach and ventilation efforts, firefighters found the family dog and carried it outside. A firefighter gave the pet oxygen.

Three engines, one ladder, one rescue squad, one medic and two chiefs responded to the scene.
