Photo Story: San Jose House Fire Hospitalizes Two

Oct. 26, 2012

On Oct. 12 at 3:48 a.m., units from the San Jose Fire Department responded to a report of a possible explosion and fire in a home at 15107 Carlton Avenue.

Upon arrival firefighters were confronted with a fully involved single story dwelling with fire impinging on neighboring homes. Evacuation of threatened exposures was quickly completed as crews placed multiple handlines into operation. Due to the intensity of the blaze firefighters were forced to attack the fire from the exterior of the home.

Firefighters also faced the additional challenge of ammunition exploding inside the home, but were successful in containing the fire to the building of origin and preventing the spread of flames to adjacent structures.

Two residents of the home suffered minor burns and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. No other injuries occurred and the cause of the fire is not considered to be suspicious.

Unit on scene: Battalions 13, 10, 1, Engines 13, 14, 17, 22, 4, Trucks 9, 13, 14, Squads 18, 30, Med 30
