Florida Car Fire Snarls Traffic

Feb. 6, 2013

A vehicle fire resulted in rush hour traffic congestion on Feb. 6 in Ocala.

The fire was reported at 4:53 p.m. at the intersection of North Pine Avenue and 10th Street.

Ocala firefighters arrived within two minutes to find a thick column of dark smoke and flames coming from the engine compartment of a four-door sedan.

The driver of the vehicle told fire officials that while she was driving other motorists told her the car was on fire. She then pulled into a parking lot and the two adults and four children escaped.

The fire was contained to the engine compartment and caused $2,000 damage.
