A school bus driver suffered major injuries in a early morning accident in Sisquoc on Oct 30.
The accident happened when and agricultural truck's fertilizer arm swung out into oncoming traffic, striking one vehicle and then the bus. The arm came in close range of the driver, knocking her unconscious. The bus, occupied with 19 students, went airborne into two trees and a fence.
Santa Barbara County Engine 23 arrived to find an MCI with the school bus driver trapped, and several students suffering from minor injuries. Engine 22 assisted with triage and extrication. A Santa Maria City engine and USAR 2 responded to assist in the extrication efforts, which took almost an hour to remove the driver.
Most of the students involved were uninjured, but some were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
