Officials say a Christmas tree caught fire and quickly spread through a Reedley home.

At 3:00 a.m. on New Year's Day, City of Reedley with mutual aid from Fresno County and City of Dinuba, were dispatched to a house fire. 

Fire units encountered a two-story residential structure fire that was 75 percent involved with fire.

The two residents were awakened by a smoke detector, but trapped on second story. They jumped to safety from the second floor. 

One resident sustained a hip injury and the second sustained an ankle injury.

The fire was placed under control about 45 minutes after arrival.

It was determined that the cause was due to a Christmas tree that caught fire.
