Detroit firefighters dodged a bullet while battling a vacant dwelling fire on Jan. 20.
Crews arrived to find a well-involved 1 1/2-story dwelling and two faulty hydrants in the area of Oldtown Street & Harper Avenue on the city's east side.
Shortly after firefighters began making an interior attack on the fire, the D side of the structure began to collapse.
Evacuation tones were sounded immediately and all crews were able to escape without injury.
A defensive posture was taken on the fire, which brought a fourth engine for manpower to the scene.
The blaze was under control in approximately one hour.
Units on scene: Engines 58, 52, 50, 46 Ladder 31 Squad 6, Chief 6
