At 7:02 a.m. on Feb. 12, the Philipsburg Fire Department was paged for a working fire.
Philipsburg Chief Harris reported a working fire and requested a second alarm assignment.
Engine 5712 was first in and laid a 5-inch supply line and then advanced a 2 1/2-inch line through the front door.
As this crew made the second floor, the roof on the rear of the structure started to collapse and the evacuation was ordered. The fire was reported by a passerby, as the homeowners were at work.
Crews from Centre County Stations 57, 15, 5 and Clearfield County Stations 14, 22, 23, 16, 17, 1, 5, 6 worked for five hours in temperatures as low as -17 F to control the blaze.
