Photo Story: Three-alarm Fire Consumes Mich. Supermarket

A three-alarm fire destroyed an occupied grocery store in East Pointe.

An East Pointe grocery store was gutted as a three-alarm fire ripped through the building on March 29.

At 8:30 p.m. a first alarm summoned firefighters from East Pointe and Roseville for a commercial building fire at East 8 Mile Road and Redmond Street. East 8 Mile Road serves as the boarder between East Pointe and Detroit an Detroit dispatched an assigned to the area as well.

East Pointe Engine 1 reported flames coming from the roof of the one-story building. Around the same time, Detroit crews 

At 8:45 p.m. a second alarm brought crews from Detroit Arsenal, Saint Claire Shores and Warren. 

As crews battled the flames, a third alarm was called. Fraser, Harrison Township and Centerline responded to the scene.

One wall collapsed as fire heavily involved the structure.

Five aerial master streams, two deck guns and several handlines were used to contain the fire, but the building was deemed a total loss.
