The boiling liquid expanding vapor explosions (BLEVEs) of rail tank cars in Crescent City, IL in 1970 might have put firefighters who were on scene in peril. Instead, they moved to safe positions after an Illinois State Police officer alerted them to the danger, because his training included information from chemical incidents. All of us should study incidents from the past.
