A rope system was deployed to rescue a 60-year-old man who fell down a steep incline on May 21.
Crews from Station 3 were called to Founders Trail, near the Audubon Society on Cornell Road in the Northwest section of the city, around 4 p.m.
The man had been hiking with his granddaughter when he slipped and fell about 50 feet. The steep incline was covered with heavy brush. The technical rescue team from Station 1 was summoned to the scene.
Firefighters had to create a rescue rope system and place the man on a backboard and a stokes basket to haul him out of the area.
The man was transported to OHSU with minor, non-life threatening injuries.
