LOS ANGELES, CA, JULY 20, 2014 – Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) firefighters rescued three young adults who became trapped in their midsize sport utility vehicle after it struck a tree on San Fernando Road in the Newhall Pass. The three victims were trapped for a half-hour as LAFD firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools, saws and cutters to tear the SUV apart to get the three out. All of the victims were reported to be in critical condition. The accident occurred next to Interstate 5 in the northern reaches of the City of Los Angeles.
