BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. --

Baltimore County rescue crews said a man fell about 30 feet from rocks inside the Patapsco Valley State Park on Sunday afternoon.

About 4:45 p.m., crews responded to an area of the park off of South Hilltop Road near Catonsville where a 24-year-old man was said to have fallen off some rocks.

Fire officials said crews had a difficult time reaching the victim because he was in an area of the park accessible only by trail.

Rescue crews said they were forced to hoist the victim out of the area using a stokes basket. A state police helicopter also helped in the rescue operation, officials said.

The victim was taken to Shock Trauma, but officials said there is no word yet on his condition.
