BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- Palm Beach County firefighters are investigating an early morning fire at Emeritus, an assisted living facility. Crews said someone smelled burning tar just before 5 a.m. and called 911. When firefighters arrived, the alarm went off. They located a fire in an elevator room. Firefighters said the sprinklers kept the flames from spreading. The staff has evacuated patients in the Alzheimer's unit, where the fire broke out.

The staff has evacuated patients in the Alzheimer's unit, where the fire broke out.
There are no reports of injuries. Crews are still on scene investigating.
