Thirteen people were hurt Friday night when two cars collided in Canby, where the Clackamas County Fair is being held this weekend.

Fire officials from the Canby Fire Department said a van with eight people inside and a SUV with five teenagers inside crashed at the intersection of New Era and Central Point roads just before 8 p.m.

One of the vehicles failed to stop at a posted stop sign at the intersection, officials said.

Firefighters said one person was rushed to a hospital by a LifeFlight helicopter. Three others needed to be rescued after becoming trapped in the SUV.

Although more than a dozen people were hurt, officials said only three of them suffered serious injuries and they're all expected to survive.

The two groups of people were both either leaving or heading to the Clackamas County Fair, fire officials said.
