CHARLOTTE, N.C. --

Firefighters rescued two people from an industrial-size dryer early Thursday morning.

Two employees at a north Charlotte company that cleans sheets for Carolinas Medical Center got trapped in the dryer at about 12:30 a.m., firefighters said.

Some of the linens got stuck, and one worker climbed into the machine to free it. He was overwhelmed by the heat, though, and another worker then got into the dryer to help. That worker was also overcome by the heat inside of the dryer, and emergency crews were called to help them.

The workers were taken to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment and are expected to be OK.
