Northbound lanes on Interstate 95 have reopened after being closed near Indiantown Road in Jupiter after a series of crashes Friday night.
Florida Highway Patrol and rescue units from Palm Beach and Martin counties responded to 28 crashes within a 10-mile stretch.
FHP officials said the 28 crashes occurred on I-95 northbound from the Palm Beach County line to Bridge Road in Hobe Sound between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Several of the crashes involved multiple vehicles, officials said. They said the initial cause of the crashes was severe rain in the area. Eventually, I-95's northbound lanes were closed to prevent further crashes from occurring.
The highway was clear as of 8:30 p.m. All lanes were reopened.
Several people involved in the crashes were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.
