HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. --

The roof at Hendersonville City Hall suffered a partial collapse on Thursday afternoon, according to the officials with the citys fire department.

Firefighters responded to an alarm at city hall at about 2 p.m. When they arrived, they discovered water was flowing from a line, and there was water on the floors of several rooms, including a large meeting room, the mayor's office and the city attorney's office.

As an apparent result of the water flow, a hole in the roof occurred. There is structural damage to the roof because of the water and the weight of the air conditioning units on top of the building.

Workers were using heavy equipment and a crane to assess the damage and coordinating a repair plan. They were trying to isolate utilities to the back of the building to keep that functional while repairs are done.

No one was injured in the collapse

The city hall will be closed on Friday, said local officials. This will impact all city offices, such as traffic tickets, property taxes and permits. The public can check Hendersonville's website for the reopen date.
