GOLDEN, Colo.
--
Two workers were treated after an ammonia line ruptured at the Coors Brewing plant in Golden, triggering evacuations, police said Monday.
Hazardous-materials teams are trying to pinpoint the source of the leak in a building on the east side of the Coors campus near 1001 Vasquez St., Golden police told 7NEWS Reporter Marc Stewart at the scene. Authorities believe the leak is contained within the building and poses no risk to the public.
The ammonia leak was reported at 2:20 p.m. A haz-mat team from the Fairmount Fire Protection District is attempting to find the ruptured line and contain it, police and fire officials said.
The leak occurred in a facility known as the north cellars where the ammonia is used to cool beer.
The two employees were treated and released from Lutheran Hospital, said Coors spokeswoman Aimee Valdez.
Valdez said it has been difficult to find the site of the line leak.
Police said more than a dozen employees were evacuated from the building where the leak occurred.
A 7NEWS photographer on Highway 58 saw employees streaming away from buildings.
Police have blocked some streets around the plant as a precaution.
