WILTON MANORS, Fla. --
Eleven people were rushed to a hospital Monday morning after a car collided with a Broward County Transit bus in Wilton Manors.
Wilton Manors police said the car crashed into the bus, which carried 27 passengers, at about 8 a.m. at Powerline Road and Oakland Park Boulevard.
Police said 17 passengers and the driver of the bus were treated at the scene, and 10 were rushed to Broward General Medical Center.
The driver of the car was trapped inside her vehicle, which carried no passengers. More than a dozen firefighters and police officers worked together to get her out. They peeled away the door and removed heavy pieces of debris.
After 15 minutes, the driver was freed from the vehicle and transported to the hospital, as well. Wilton Manors police said she had severe injuries to her legs.
The conditions and names of the victims have not been released.
Wilton Manors police said they are investigating the cause of the crash.
